Don Melchor

Honoring a Founding Legend

Don Melchor is one of Chiles most iconic premium wines, produced by Viña Don Melchor, a subsidiary of the prestigious Concha y Toro. Named in tribute to Don Melchor Concha y Toro, founder of the wine empire in 1883, the wine reflects Chiles commitment to producing world-class Cabernet Sauvignon.

A Vision Realized in Puente Alto

The first vintage of Don Melchor was released in 1987, crafted from Cabernet Sauvignon grown in Puente Alto Vineyard in the Maipo Valley. This region, known for its ideal soil and climate conditions, is now recognized as Chiles best terroir for Cabernet Sauvignon.

The vineyard is meticulously divided into small parcels to manage the grapes' growth and ripeness with precision, resulting in a wine with remarkable balance, intensity, and aromatic complexity.

A Blend of Elegance and Depth

While predominantly made from Cabernet Sauvignon (9095%), Don Melchor occasionally includes small amounts of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. These additions enrich the wines character, adding depth and complexity to its structure and flavor profile.

Jacques Boissenot, a Bordeaux-based enologist, consulted on early vintages until 2013. Since then, Enrique Tirado has led the winemaking process and remains the chief winemaker to this day.
