Samyang

Samyang is a Korean food company with a long history and a significant role in South Koreas food industry. The company was founded on September 15, 1961, by Jeon Jung Yoon, who had a great vision to solve the severe food shortage facing Koreans after World War II. His philosophy that Food Sufficiency Leads to World Peace has been a driving force for the company to continuously create products that truly meet consumer needs.

The Beginning and the Path to Becoming a Pioneer

On September 15, 1961, Samyang made history by launching Samyang Ramen, the first instant noodle brand in South Korea. This product was not only affordable and easy to prepare but also helped alleviate hunger and became an essential staple food for Koreans, second only to rice.

Soon after its launch, Samyang grew rapidly. The companys instant noodles became a household essential. Due to this increasing popularity, in 1967, Samyang expanded its production facilities to keep up with its fast-paced business growth.

From Challenge to Global Phenomenon

In the 1980s, Samyang faced fierce competition from new rivals. To counter this, in 2012, Samyang launched a game-changing product: Buldak Ramen (Spicy Chicken Ramen). Known for its intensely spicy flavor, it quickly gained popularity on social media platforms like YouTube.

The success of Buldak Ramen wasn't just due to its taste. It was also a result of Samyangs clever marketing strategy through the Buldak Challengea campaign that encouraged people worldwide to film themselves eating the noodles and post the videos online. This challenge turned Buldak Ramen into a cultural phenomenon that spread far beyond a simple food product. This success also solidified Samyang's position as a trendsetter in the Quick & Easy Food category in over 90 countries.

Sustainable Growth and Business Expansion

Beyond instant noodles, Samyang has expanded its product line to include various items such as snacks, flavored sugars, seasonings, processed foods, milk, and sauces. This diversification reflects the company's commitment to meeting the diverse needs of consumers and strengthening its business through risk distribution.

Today, Samyang has expanded its market extensively, especially in Japan, which is considered the largest instant noodle market in the world, and continues to grow in popularity. Furthermore, Samyang has also acquired restaurant businesses to further expand its food-related ventures and ensure sustainable growth.

You can find Samyang products at all Rimping Supermarket branches.
