The company originally began with the production of seasoning products before moving into packaged kimchi, making Jongga the first brand in Korea to introduce kimchi in ready-to-sell packaging.

The brand was officially launched in 1987 in collaboration with the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) through a kimchi research project.
