Leonardi is a world-renowned brand of balsamic vinegar from Modena, Italy a city famous for its long tradition of vinegar-making. The Leonardi family founded the company in 1871 and has passed down its artisanal expertise from generation to generation.

Originally producing vinegar for personal use, the family later began selling their vinegar to the local community. Its distinct taste and high quality quickly gained popularity and laid the foundation for Leonardis international reputation.

Locally Grown Grapes and Traditional Craftsmanship

Leonardi balsamic vinegar is made from freshly pressed juice of two local grape varieties Trebbiano (white) and Lambrusco (red). The juice is slowly cooked until thick and syrupy before being transferred into barrels made from different types of wood, including oak, cherry, and chestnut.

These barrels play a crucial role in aging the vinegar, imbuing it with a unique aroma and complex flavor. The aging process lasts at least 12 years, with premium products being aged for over 25 or even more than 100 years.

Recognized Excellence and Certification

In 1910, Leonardi was awarded a gold medal at the Modena Balsamic Vinegar Competition. In 1990, the company received ISO 9001 certification, recognizing its commitment to quality production. It also holds DOP (Denominazione di Origine Protetta) certification, affirming its adherence to traditional production methods and origin.
