Crown Confectionery, or simply Crown, is a leading manufacturer and distributor of snacks and sweets in South Korea. The company offers a wide range of products, including biscuits, crackers, cakes, pies, snacks, candies, and chocolates. Crown's success story is not an overnight one, but a journey of continuous experience and dedication that began with a small bakery in Seoul.

A Journey of Over Seven Decades

The story of Crown began in 1947 when Yoon Tae-Hyun opened a small bakery called Youngildang Bakery in Seoul. The bakery initially focused on producing bread and pastries for the local community. Later, Yoon Tae-Hyun expanded his business to include snacks and candies, which led to the official founding of Crown Confectionery in 1968.

In its early days, Crown continuously developed its production technology and refined its recipes to create products with exceptional taste and quality. This commitment to high production standards became a key factor in the companys ability to compete in a highly competitive market. In 1976, the company was listed on the Korean Stock Exchange, a significant turning point that provided the capital needed for rapid business expansion.

Pioneering the Snack Industry: The Birth of Iconic Products

In 1980, Crown implemented computer technology in its production system, which improved efficiency and quality control. A few years later, Crown became a pioneer in the Korean snack industry by creating its most famous products: Sando and Big Pie. Both of these snacks became brand icons and gained widespread popularity among Korean consumers.

Sando is a cream-filled cookie inspired by the Belgian "Couque D'Asse," adapted to Korean tastes. Big Pie is a cake filled with cream and jam, which is highly popular among all age groups. In addition, Crown has continuously developed other popular snacks such as Heim, Vic Pie, Jolly Pong, C: Corn-Chip, Shinzzang, and Mychew, each with its own unique identity to meet diverse consumer needs. Heim in particular, with its crispy wafer and rich chocolate filling, is a top-selling favorite.

Global Expansion and Sustainable Growth

In the 21st century, Crown began to seriously expand into international markets. In 2005, the company established a factory in Shanghai, China, marking a significant step into the Chinese and East Asian markets. The same year, Crown acquired Haitai Confectionery & Food, a major merger that expanded its market share and product variety.

The Korean snack industry is highly competitive, with major rivals like Lotte and Orion. To maintain its leadership, Crown focuses on continuous research and development of new products and improving production processes. The company also invests heavily in brand building and marketing to forge strong connections with consumers.

Today, Crown Confectionery offers a wide range of products, including biscuits, cookies, crackers, chocolates, snacks, and candies.
